Unframed. This work can be found during the Spark Exhibition in the small "unframed artwork bins" in the gallery.
This piece was inspired by my trip to Greenland in 2017. The sheer beauty and grand scale of the ice fields, glaciers and icebergs in this region left a lasting impression on me.This is a one-of-a kind, original hand inked print from a collagraph plate. A collagraph plate is made by gluing textural materials to a substrate. Smooth surfaces create lighter tones as it does not hold the ink when the surface is wiped before printing, while rough surfaces hold more ink creating darker values. Once the plate is inked to my satisfaction, I then run through an etching press, transferring the ink from the plate(s) to the paper. I added a second ink layer on a second pass through the press for additional richness.
