Morning Watch (Circumnavigator)

This abstract realism piece is of the brigantine Matthew Turner modeled after the ship Galilee, which was built in the late 1800’s by the ship designer and builder Matthew Turner. The Galilee held the San Francisco to Tahiti passage record of 19 days for many years.

It's title, Morning Watch, is signaled by the golden hour light dancing on the sails as the sun breaks the horizon.

It was chosen for the "Some Like it Hot" show at Gallery House for my sub theme: Riding the Currents which of course are generated and altered by changes in temperature.
