Oceano Dunes State Park on California's southern coast features wind-shaped dunes that are distinctly different from the peaked dunes of places like Death Valley. I was drawn to the forms of the long, rolling dunes with surface ripples and features like the vortex in this image. This one was visited by some critter. Did it emerge or was it swallowed up by the fantastical force that formed the vortex.
