Art has been an integral part of my life since I was a boy, realizing early on I had a gift for rendering the world with pencil and paper. In school, if I could draw it, I could learn it.  Throughout my career I enjoyed doing medical illustrations for my publications. Now that I am retired, painting has become an intense pleasurable focus.  I am instinctively drawn to deep rich colors and a diversity of textures. These qualities have come together with my “Color Cell” technique, where a dimensional acrylic bead creates cells into which the colors are poured. This renders a stained-glass presence to the pictures that is suitable for both representational and abstract images. The themes that interest me are drawn from a lifetime of looking at art, beauty serendipitously glimpsed, a moment of tenderness remembered, a desire to express visually a delightful feeling, and the excitement of patterns of color swirling into each other.
